Integrating Spirituality into psychotherapy: A missing key to mental health?

In my latest Brainz article, I discuss how integrating a client’s spirituality into therapy fosters quicker healing and longer-term well-being. This holistic approach addresses the root causes of mental health issues rather than just managing symptoms, enhancing energy flow, and balance, and supports emotional and physical well-being. It also facilitates the client to have an experience that they are more than just a physical being, which fosters strength, resilience, and healing.
In session, we integrate what resonates with the client, which may include meditation, ceremony, prayer, yoga, Reiki, hypnosis, or other practices. We explore life’s meaning and connection and encourage experiences that help them connect to their inner self and the grander whole.
Research demonstrates that spiritually-integrated therapy leads to deeper healing and improved outcomes. Clients shift from merely surviving to consciously creating their lives, fostering resilience and empowerment.
