I hope the new year and incoming Spring has sprung a motivation toward manifesting your ideal life. If learning to calm stress is in your intentions, here’s a summary of my latest article published in Brainz Magazine.
3 Fast Ways to Calm Down and Regain Control
When stress takes over, your nervous system shifts into fight-or-flight mode, making it hard to think clearly or feel at ease. Fortunately, there are quick and effective ways to reset your body and mind.
1️⃣ Control Your Breath – Extending your exhale sends signals to your nervous system that you're safe, which helps lower your heart rate and ease tension. It quickly encourages relaxation and steadies your emotions.
Try inhaling deeply for 4 seconds, pause for 4, then exhale for 8. Set a timer and practice for 3 minutes, when that becomes easy, extend the time!
2️⃣ Use Cold Therapy – Applying something cold to your forehead while keeping your head at heart level can quickly reduce stress. This activates a natural reflex in your body that slows your heart rate and promotes calm. A cold pack or dunking your face in cold water for 30 seconds can make a big difference.
3️⃣ Move Your Body – When stress builds up, physical movement can release pent-up energy and reset your system. Engaging in short bursts of high-intensity movement for 5-20 minutes—like jumping jacks, burpees, sprinting in place, running up and down stairs, or even dancing—helps burn off stress hormones and leaves you feeling more balanced.
